Involve all members of the team in making sure there is a work-oriented but relaxed and pleasant atmosphere in the classroom with relatively little wasted time, confusion or disruption.
Ensure that everyone understands their team roles and performs them in a friendly and professional manner.
Help to quickly and respectfully restore positive behavior so all students are able to retain their dignity and continue learning.
Help other students to receive appropriate, helpful and timely feedback that helps them to succeed.
Ensure that all students feel that they are known, their voices are heard and count, they are respected and able to respect others.
Help all students feel valued as individuals, and understand the importance of their contributions to the group.
Help the teacher select Tutors and Concept Presenters that have already understood the topic to help other students who haven’t.
Work with the Tutors and Concept Presenters to help students extend their knowledge and give them plenty of practice and feedback tailored to their specific needs.
Ask the appropriate Concept Presenter to reteach any skills from prior classes that the students appear to be struggling with.
Enable all students to make meaningful choices in their learning and think about what they’ve learned, both individually and as a group, because doing so helps them build community and learn more.
Help all students take control of their own learning by defining learning goals and monitoring their progress in achieving them.
Ensure that everyone understands that the goal is to learn from their mistakes and “try again”.
Work with other teams to establish a job shadowing program that allows students to go beyond the classroom.
Together with the class Reporters recruit employers for the job shadowing program.
